A Long Session of Online Poker

Played almost 2500 hands of 20-40 on Saturday night till about 8am Sunday Morning. I’m not sure its healthy to play that much poker in one day. To put that number of hands in context, it would be about 71 hours of poker at a casino. Its mind boggling when you think about how many hands you can see in one day if you are playing mulitple tables. I struggled most of the night and was stuck almost 1500 at the lowpoint. Finally made a comeback in the early morning and was winning about 1000 and gladly logged off PartyPoker.

I actually had a hard time sleeping, kept waking up to Poker Dreams, where my brain was replaying hands and bad beats. Definitely not going to play tonight, Day off for sure.

Today’s Poker Lesson: Sometimes you have to fight for your money. Sometimes everything seems to go easy, other days just the opposite. If you play poker, you have to learn to deal with the swings of the game, both emotionally and physically. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been in a great 30-60 hold’em game at the Bellagio and been stuck a rack (1000) or two. I wasn’t playing bad, a few bad beats here and there, losing a couple big pots on river, etc. As long as you still have an edge in the game and the game is good, I am a firm believer in fighting for your money. On the other hand, if you’ve become tired, not playing your best, poor table image and the game no longer has positive expectation, pick your ass up and go home.
